Terms of Service

The short version

You send us pages, we read them, you pay, and you download the result.

• You keep ownership of your documents and transcriptions.
• Only upload pages you have the right to upload.
• Automated transcription is not perfect, especially on difficult handwriting.
• Download completed files within 7 days.
• Contact us within 30 days if a transcription is not usable and you need a refund.

What these terms cover

These terms govern use of textward.app and are an agreement between you and Textward LLC. By uploading a page or making a purchase, you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

The service

Textward converts document images into text and delivers plain text, searchable PDF, Word, and Markdown files. Each job is a one-off purchase with no subscription. Current limits may change: jobs can include up to 25 pages; JPG, PNG, and WebP images can be up to 20 MB each; and PDF files can be up to 100 MB.

Your documents

You keep all rights to what you upload and to the transcriptions we produce. You grant Textward a narrow, temporary permission to store, process, and transcribe pages only to deliver your order. We do not use documents for any other purpose or to train any system.

Your responsibilities

By uploading a page, you confirm that you have the right to do so. Do not upload material you have no legal right to copy, another person's private or sensitive papers without permission, unlawful content, or anything intended to damage, overload, or interfere with the service.

Accuracy

Transcription is automated. Clear printed pages and neat handwriting can produce strong results, while faded, cramped, damaged, or unusual handwriting can produce errors, omissions, or incorrect readings.

• Textward is an aid, not a certified or verified transcription service.
• Check the output against the original before using it for legal, medical, financial, genealogical, or other consequential decisions.

Prices and payment

The price for a job is shown in full before payment. There is no subscription or recurring charge. Stripe handles payments, and the price shown at checkout is the price you pay. We may change future prices but not a quote already shown to you.

Refunds

If a substantial portion of a job fails to process, we may refund the order automatically. If your transcription is not usable, contact hello@textward.app within 30 days of purchase to request a refund. Refunds return through Stripe to the original payment method and may take several days to appear.

Retention and availability

Uploads, transcripts, previews, and generated files are scheduled for automatic deletion after 24 hours when unpaid and after 7 days when paid. Download files before that window closes because deleted files cannot be restored. We aim to keep the service available but do not guarantee uptime, availability, or processing time.

Intellectual property and liability

The Textward name, logo, site design, copy, and software belong to Textward. To the fullest extent allowed by law, the service is provided as is and as available. Textward's total liability for a claim related to a job is limited to the amount paid for that job. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Governing law and changes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. We may update these terms for future orders; material changes will be noted on this site. Questions about these terms can be sent to hello@textward.app.
